Ordinance #56/2021: The procedures for the submission of Sequence Listings in patent applications in Brazil
The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) announced, through the Industrial Property Magazine (RPI) No. 2660, on December 28, the Ordinance #56/2021, which establishes the procedures for the submission of Sequence Listings for complementation of the descriptive report in patent applications, as well as the rules for the representation of the nucleotide and amino acid sequences in the Listing.
This Ordinance will come into effect on January 3, 2022 and revokes the Ordinance No. 405/2020 from 12/21/2020, however, it is important to emphasize that from the date of entry into force of this Ordinance, until 06/30/2022, the presentation of the List of Sequences may, alternatively and voluntarily, follow the former OMPI ST.25 Standard.
