Cultivars

Cultivar is the name given to a new plant variety, corresponding to a certain genotype and phenotype that has been selected and received a unique name, being duly registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply based on its productive, decorative and/or other characteristics that make it interesting for cultivation.

Within the field of Intellectual Property, the protection of cultivars allows the improvement and creation of new plant species. Our office’s qualified professionals can guarantee proprietary rights to a new plant variety related to different aspects of management rights, genetic improvement and marketing.

Some of the services we offer in this area are: consultancy on cultivar protection in Brazil and abroad, consultancy on the registration of cultivars with the National Service for the Protection of Cultivars (SNPC), consultancy on commercial registration of cultivars with the National Registry of Cultivars (RNC) and supervision of own and third-party cultivar records.
